Curriculum Structure of The Islamic Religious Education

The curriculum for the Undergraduate (S1) Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Study Program at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is designed with a planned and systematic study load structure to be completed within a normal study period of eight semesters. The total study load is expressed in Semester Credit Units (SKS) that students must complete as a graduation requirement, in accordance with applicable academic regulations in higher education.

The design of this structure and study load is aligned with the standards for student study load in higher education as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 39 of 2025 concerning Higher Education Quality Assurance. The regulation affirms that the semester credit unit is a measure of student study load that represents the total time of learning activities through various academically valid forms of learning, including face-to-face activities, structured learning, and independent learning.

Therefore, the establishment of the curriculum structure and credit distribution in the Undergraduate PAI Study Program at UNY is not based solely on fulfilling administrative graduation requirements, but is the result of academic planning that considers the depth and breadth of scientific material, stages of student competency development, and learning needs relevant to the characteristics of prospective Islamic religious education scholars. All courses are arranged sequentially and integrated to support the achievement of Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO), covering aspects of attitudes and values, knowledge, general skills, and specific skills as professional, humanistic, and adaptive PAI educators in the face of contemporary educational dynamics.
